danWhen I first came to Alaska I arrived directly to the Kenai Peninsula. Coming from Colorado I was an avid trout fisherman and had never seen fish the size of the Kenai River King Salmon. These fish were so impressive. King Salmon that were over eighty pounds, and if that wasn't enough, they were wonderful to eat. Needless to say, this fishery was very addictive, and I spent all of my spear time salmon fishing. Today, I am a veteran Kenai River guide of over twenty years and president of Alaska Clearwater Sportfishing Inc. As a Kenai River guide I have found that I can bring back those old days of new found fishing excitement by showing others the great fishing we have on the Kenai. Be it the mighty King Salmon, a Sockeye, or a feisty Rainbow Trout ñ I enjoy watching others catch their fish and then to see them glow with delight.

As a resident of Cooper Landing since 1993, we make Cooper Landing and the surrounding wilderness our year around home. I have been living in this wonderful community and fishing the Kenai River for several years now. I met my beautiful wife, Shannon, on the Kenai River as she too is a guide. We have a beautiful daughter named Elly. My first year as a professional guide on the Kenai was 1996. My formative years guiding was with a premier sport fishing lodge in Cooper Landing. In 2003 I decided to venture out and that is when I went to work with Alaska Clearwater. By mainly drift boating on the Upper Kenai River and Middle Kenai River, this allowed me to concentrate on the mighty Rainbow Trout. Floating through the Upper Kenai River Canyon and into Skilak Lake is one of the greatest drifts out there. I hope I can show my office to you someday. Fish On!

I have been in Alaska since 1982. Since living in Alaska I have had the opportunity to fish all over the state for wild Alaskan salmon and trout. I first fished the Kenai River back in 1984 when I landed my first Kenai River King Salmon. After spending four years in the U.S. Army I moved back to Alaska to further enjoy all the fishing experiences that this great land has to offer. Now living and working on the Kenai River as a professional fishing guide I have been given the opportunity to share all the things that I hold dear in my heart about this great land. From the multitudes of different fish living and spawning in the river to the powerful eagles soaring overhead, the beauty of this country is utterly divine. I have been a professional fishing guide on the Kenai Peninsula for seven great years now. I really enjoy fly fishing for wild Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Red and Silver Salmon in my custom built 20' drift boat on the Upper Kenai River in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. I also enjoy fishing for the world famous Kenai River King Salmon out of my 20' power boat on the lower Kenai River with conventional rod and reel. I feel that the Kenai River is by far the best roadside fishery in the world and welcome anyone who would like to experience it with me.

I stated my guiding career in the year 2000. I am an avid fisherman, but also an avid guide. I enjoy catching Rainbow Trout and Salmon as much as I enjoy seeing someone in my boat catch one. There is nothing more satisfying to me at the end of the day than knowing the people I fished with had the best fishing day of their lives.

My wife, Laura, and I feel fortunate to call Cooper Landing, Alaska home. We have fished all over the world, from New Zealand to the Bahamas to the Florida Keys to New England to Montana and lots of places in between, but we are always ready to return home to Alaska at the end of the trip.
